Stella McCartney 'Breast Cancer Awareness'
The Challenge

Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer, affecting about 1 in 7 women in the UK.

In 2014, Stella McCartney launched an annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign through her label, coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. These campaigns often feature high-profile celebrities to increase visibility and raise awareness.

McCartney has also designed a special collection of bras specifically aimed at breast cancer survivors and those undergoing treatment. These collections include post-mastectomy bras that are both functional and stylish, helping women feel confident and comfortable during their recovery.

During my time at the National Film and Television School, I had the opportunity to work on a speculative brief provided by Stella McCartney's company to promote their post-mastectomy bras.

What I did about it
My approach for this ad was to express the idea that women who bear the scars of life changing surgeries can and should be confident with their bodies, and how breast cancer shouldn’t shy away from normality.
Writing and directing my own commercial certainly pushed me beyond my comfort zone, sparking growth in my passion for creative writing in advertising.
